Jamaican childish outside games

With the introduction of online games, children don't run around anymore but prefer to sit in front of a device and stare at the screen twiddling their fingers.

If the internet should ever shut down one day, God help our children, because they do not know how to play without a screen.

There were so many games we played as children. I was not one to run around, but I enjoyed watching the others run around.

Here is a list of games that I observed as a child, if you can think of any other, please list below and I will add it to the blog.

1) Mamma-lashy
2) Stucky
3)Marbles
4) Hide and go seek
5)

1) Mamma-lashy
A:Children! Children!
B: Yes mama
A: where have you been to
B:To granpapa
A:what did he give you
B:bun and cheese
A: so where's my share
B:up in the air
A:how can I reach it?
B:climb on a broken chair
A:suppose I fall
B:we don't care
A:who teach you that manners?
B:the dog
A:and who is the dog
B:yuh!!

At this point children (part-B) would start running and mama (part-A)
would start chasing them.

2) Stucky I think is a pretty common game. It is called "Tag" in the United States.
It is where a person chases everyone to tag them. Once tagged they either cannot move
or join the team in tagging the rest of the players.

Although this game is relatively common, what was not common was the way in which
the chaser was chosen. If you know any other rhymes please share.

Dip- version 1
My mother and your mother was washing some clothes
My mother thumb your mother in her big fat nose
What color blood came out (person chooses a color)
It is spelled out
ex. R. E. D is red and out you may go
For the King and the Queen said so.

Version 2
Eenie meenie Miney Moe
Catch a patu by the toe
If he hollers let him go
Eenie meenie Miney Moe

Marbles

There is a separate post on this blog for the rules of this game. So I won't mention it here.

Throwing lastic

Although not very popular kids used to play a elastic game where they bounced of the wall. Not too
sure about the rules. It is a little foggy now. But if you remember the rules you can jot the rules
below in the comment section.
