Pig, Cow, and Sheep lived in a sunny, green meadow filled with delicious grass and plenty of space to roam. Pig loved to explore, Cow enjoyed relaxing in the shade, and Sheep was always content nibbling clover. They were the best of friends, always together.
One warm morning, as the sun peeked over the hills, they heard a small, whimpering sound coming from near the bubbling brook. It wasn't the usual chirping of birds or buzzing of bees. They looked at each other, curiosity in their eyes.
"What's that sound?" Pig whispered, his ears twitching.
Cow, usually so calm, felt a little flutter in her heart. "It sounds like someone is sad."
Sheep, ever gentle, bravely took a step toward the brook. "Let's go see."
As they got closer, they saw a tiny, fluffy duckling. It was all alone, its little webbed feet tangled in a patch of thorny brambles right by the water's edge. The duckling was crying, unable to free itself.
"Oh, no!" Pig squealed, feeling a pang in his chest. "It's stuck!"
Cow looked at the duckling, then at the sharp thorns. "We have to help it!" she mooed, her voice full of concern.
Sheep, without a moment's hesitation, moved forward. "But how?"
Pig, with his strong snout, tried to push the brambles away, but they were too prickly. Cow, with her wide mouth, tried to pull at them, but they were too tough. Sheep, with her soft wool, tried to nudge the duckling free, but the thorns just snagged her fleece.
They looked at each other, a little discouraged. The duckling continued to whimper.
Then, Pig had an idea. "Maybe if we work together!" he suggested. "Cow, you're strong – can you pull from one side? Sheep, you're nimble – can you try to untangle the duckling's feet with your nose, very carefully, from the other?"
Cow nodded, taking a deep breath. She used all her might to tug at the thickest part of the brambles, pulling them away from the duckling. At the same time, Sheep, with gentle nudges of her nose and soft lips, carefully worked at the thorny strands around the duckling's tiny feet. Pig cheered them on, making sure they were both pulling and nudging in the right direction.
Slowly but surely, the brambles began to loosen. With one final, careful pull from Cow and a delicate nudge from Sheep, the duckling popped free! It shook its little tail feathers, cheeped happily, and waddled straight into the sparkling brook, swimming around in joyful circles.
The three friends watched, their hearts swelling with happiness. The duckling swam over to them, chirping its thanks before paddling off to find its family.
Pig, Cow, and Sheep sat down in the grass, feeling tired but wonderfully content.
"That felt really good," Pig said, a happy sigh escaping him.
"It did!" Cow agreed, a warm feeling spreading through her. "When you lend a hand to someone in need, it really makes a positive impact."
Sheep nodded, a peaceful smile on her face. "And it feels good to help."
From that day on, Pig, Cow, and Sheep knew that their meadow wasn't just a place to live; it was a place where they could look out for each other and for all living things. They learned that helping others made the world a kinder, happier place for everyone.
