Pig Cow and Sheep - Gratitude for What You Have:

Pig, Cow, and Sheep lived in a lovely green meadow. Pig loved digging for tasty roots, Cow enjoyed munching sweet grass, and Sheep was happiest finding patches of soft, fresh clover. They had plenty to eat, a clear stream to drink from, and warm sunshine to nap in.

One sunny afternoon, a small, fluffy robin landed nearby. "Chirp, chirp! It's so hot today," the robin chirped, fanning its wings. "I wish I had a big, shady tree like that one over there!" It pointed its tiny beak to a distant, grand oak tree, far from their meadow.

Pig listened to the robin and then looked at the smaller, friendly apple tree in their own meadow. "Hmm," he grunted. "Our tree isn't quite as big, is it?"

Cow sighed, "And our stream isn't as wide as the river I saw once." She started thinking about all the things they didn't have. Sheep, who usually hummed happily, felt a little bit of her joy fade as she thought about greener pastures far away. They started to forget how nice their own meadow was.

That evening, a gentle rain began to fall. Pig quickly wiggled under their apple tree, staying perfectly dry. Cow found shelter under the same tree, her back well-covered. Sheep snuggled close, finding comfort from the light drizzle. The apple tree, though not the biggest, was just right for keeping them dry.

The next morning, the meadow sparkled. The grass was even greener, the flowers looked refreshed, and the stream flowed clearer than ever. Pig easily found juicy, rain-softened roots. Cow grazed on the dew-kissed grass, which tasted sweeter than ever. Sheep found her favorite clover patches plump and tender.

As the sun warmed them, the robin from yesterday landed near them again. "Chirp, chirp! What a wonderful rain!" it sang. "And this grass! It's so fresh and green. And your stream, it's so clear and perfect for a drink! You three are very lucky."

Pig looked around. His mud puddle was wonderfully squishy. Cow’s grass was sweet and abundant. Sheep’s clover was exactly what she loved. Their apple tree, while not huge, was their perfect size and had offered great shelter. They looked at each other, a warm feeling spreading through them.

"You know," Pig oinked, "our apple tree is just right for us."

"And this grass is the best," Cow mooed contentedly. "It keeps us strong and happy."

Sheep nibbled a piece of clover, a happy hum rising from her. "And our stream is always there, clean and cool."

They realized that they had been so busy wishing for other things, they had almost forgotten to be thankful for the good things in their life, both big and small, that were right there in their own meadow. They had everything they needed, and it was all quite wonderful.

From that day on, Pig, Cow, and Sheep made sure to notice all the lovely things around them. They learned that taking time to appreciate your blessings helped them feel happy and full of gratitude for what they had.

Summary

Gratitude for What You Have: Be thankful for the good things in your life, big or small. It helps you appreciate your blessings.
