This blog was created to preserve a little part of Jamaica's culture. Too many jokes and interesting things about the Island get forgotten just because there wasn't an archive of them. This blog allows me to archive all these jokes and interesting things so that they will never be forgotten. I will write about what I know and believe, but I need all the help I can get. I left Jamaica in 2001 with nothing but an invitation and a visitors visa. Although it has been a really rough struggle to get myself situated in the U.S. at the time it was thought better than staying in Jamaica, becasue it was thought that there was no future for youth in the country. If I understand the songs that I hear being broadcasted from the Island correctly, things have only gotten worse since 2001.
ReplyDeleteSo although I'm living below the poverty line in America, it's still better than living in Jamaica.
Not Necessary true sir/madam there is alot of opportunity's in jamaica, you just have to be willing to step out an search, look some pll just sit down and expect things to come their way, but I feel the same way too when I was there, it wasn't until I stop being lazy I was able to see how many opportunity's was around me. there is alot of things you can do there man just step out with God peace. Notice when jamaican goes to a foreign country they start to follow the law and try to be people of good morals, but most of them when they were back home its the opposite. its the sameting with jobs and stuff, there is bills to pay every where you turn in America.
ReplyDeleteSo pll have no choice than to find work where ever they can, but in jamaica some live free in the rich and poor community so they get really comfortable in there lives then talk about there is no future, no joy and the full hundred, some pll try to better themselfs in all manner of ways when thier living in a forgn country, but when they where living in jamaica they wasn't thinking like that, so i come to the conclusion that it the way you think not the country. but i agree jamaican government need to do more and it a little better in the uk,usa, can etc. but if you are willing here just listen plz there is future here just think to better your life.
When I say no opportunity is in Jamaica, I'm talking about the opportunity to grow into a wealthy person, I'm talking about an infrastructure that works so that Justice can be served to those deserve it, I'm talking about the economic future that exists for the newly graduated college students.
ReplyDeleteI was frustrated with the system or lack thereof in Jamaica, and that's why I fled the Island. For the most part the people I talk to also left the island because they were tired of the broken system that existed.
Are there opportunities in Jamaica? Yes there are, but only those that include hurting your fellow countrymen to succeed. How can a person genuinely enjoy getting ahead when he knows that it is the sorrows of someone else that has brought the fortune he enjoys.
I don't mean to talk down the Island, but I do mean to state the facts as I see it.
My friend to Jamaica recently to make a withdrawal from her account at NCB (national commercial bank) and because her last name had changed, inspite of the fact that she was there in person and had brought identification with her previous and present names, she was denied her own money.
Again the police states that the resolve 30% of all crime committed. This means that criminals have a 70% chance of success rate when they commit a crime. If crime were a business and it seems to be in Jamaica, which sensesible business man would not pursue it esp. Since there is a 70% rate of sucess.
There is a lot more things which could be said, but I think I have said enough. Legitimate opportunities are few and far between in Jamaica.
