Why be Mad

I have had it. I am completely, irrevocably done.

If there is one thing this miserable week has proven, it is that common courtesy is officially extinct, buried beneath a mountain of unchecked incompetence and sheer, unbelievable selfishness.

Let’s start with this morning. I get into my car, desperate for just ten minutes of silence before facing the daily grind, and what do I get? The person in front of me at the intersection decides that a green light is merely a suggestion. A gentle invite to contemplate the universe. I sat there, hand hovering over the horn, watching the back of their clueless head while three entire cycles of light washed over us like a bad joke. Do people not have places to be? Are we all just floating through life on a cloud of unearned privilege and zero spatial awareness?

And don't even get me started on the coffee shop. I ordered a simple drip coffee. Drip. It takes three seconds to pour. Yet somehow, I stood there for twenty minutes while the person behind the counter gave a masterclass in slow motion, carefully crafting three absurdly over-engineered lattes for someone who couldn't even be bothered to look up from their phone to say "thank you."

Everyone is taking up too much room. Everyone is moving too slow. Everyone is talking too loudly into their speakerphones in public, chewing like livestock, and breathing up all the decent air left on this planet. It is an endless, agonizing parade of small, insufferable grievances, and frankly, I am sick of pretending to be okay with it. The incompetence is suffocating. It feels like every single person I encounter today has personally orchestrated a campaign to stretch my absolute last nerve until it snaps in half.

I’ve been pacing around my living room for the past two hours, pounding on my keyboard, chest tight, blood boiling, ready to tear the wall down board by board just to let off the steam...but the truth is, I don't even know why I'm this upset.
