Jamaican Ole time sayings

Jot down some sayings that you heard growing up here. If you know it, also give the explanation.


Let me start.

I heard this one and I want to know if anybody found it to be true.

"If you want to scare off bad dawg, just shine a bright flashlight in their eyes"

Now tell me how in the world will bad dawg run from light?  Are they afraid of their shadow or something?

"When Ashes cold Dawg will Lie down"

If there is no threat people will take advantage.

"Time is longer than rope"

This means that bad times can't last forever.
